Newport Coast Urology was established in 1999 when Dr. John Ravera and Dr. Ronald Solomon joined their busy practices. Dr. Greg Barmé joined the practice in 2002. In 2006, John retired from clinical practice to spend more time with his family and fly fish.

Dr. Solomon was born and raised in the greater Boston area. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts and earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. After two years of surgical residency at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, he completed his Urologic training at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston. The Solomon family then made their way west to Southern California.
Dr. Solomon is married to his High School sweetheart. He has a daughter and a son who graduated from ASU and USC respectively. His passions, beyond family and medicine, are the Boston Red Sox and fly fishing. He grew up going to Fenway Park and he and his wife rarely miss a game. He has been fortunate to fly fish all over the world for many salt and fresh water species and is a partner in a fly shop in Telluride, Colorado.
Dr. Barmé was born and raised in Encino, in the San Fernando Valley. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of California at Berkeley. He went to Medical School at the University of California at San Diego. He then went on to do his specialty training (residency) in Urology at Yale University, in New Haven, Connecticut. He relocated to Newport Beach, and began practice in general urology in 2002. He met his wife, Bonnie, during his residency and was married in 2003. They have two children, Noah, born in 2006, and Ruby, born in 2008. His practice encompasses all aspect of urology and urologic surgery, including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, kidney stones, enlarged prostate, urinary incontinence, infections, laparoscopy, and prosthetics. During his free time, Dr. Barmé enjoys traveling, playing piano, skiing, being a family man, and the emotional turmoil of supporting Cal athletics.
